A greedy dog once dug up a piece of bone from the ground. He was very glad, took the bone between his teeth and began carrying it back home. On his way home, the dog crossed a bridge over a river. The dog looked at the river and saw in it a dog also holding a bone between his teeth.
What the dog was seeing was his own reflection in the water. But because he was very greedy, he thought that it was another dog who also had a bone in his mouth. The greedy dog wanted to have that bone for himself, too and so he began barking at his own reflection in the river. At that moment, the bone in the greedy dog's mouth fell into the river and was lost forever.
